Frequently Asked Questions

At American Combat Academy, we’re more than just a martial arts school – we’re a community of warriors committed.

WHAT IS THE AKA STRIKING PROGRAM?

A combination of Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai, and Taekwondo are stand-up martial arts, or striking, martial arts that involve kicking, punching, knees, and elbow strikes. Our striking classes vary in intensity for all skill levels. From kickboxing to Muay Thai sparring, our stand-up classes will help you develop your skills and discipline.

BJJ is a style of martial art that centers around submission grappling. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu combines original Japanese Jiu-Jitsu theories with a combat mentality, producing a sport unlike any other. Our BJJ classes involve basic movements and concepts, positional skill development, and live rolling. You are not required to participate in the live rolling part of class, but as we say in Jiu-Jitsu, “If you don’t roll, you don’t know.”

We offer classes for kids and adults.  We are a family environment, no bad egos welcomed, only GOOD VIBES!

MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts, is the way of the future. It’s a modern, battle-tested martial art that equips you with practical fighting skills for sport, self-defense, and combat. Made famous by the rise of the UFC, MMA has become a global phenomenon, offering an effective, no-nonsense approach to training. What makes MMA unique is its focus on the most practical and efficient techniques drawn from multiple disciplines, including Muay Thai, Wrestling, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Karate, and Taekwondo. By combining these martial arts, MMA offers a well-rounded, adaptable skill set that’s perfect for real-world application, whether you’re training for competition or just looking to get in better shape.

Like any physical activity, there is some inherent risk in training, especially if you’re preparing to become a professional MMA fighter. However, for the average person who doesn’t plan on stepping into the cage, MMA is a safe and effective way to learn self-defense, improve fitness, and build confidence. When practiced with the proper instruction, safety protocols, and technique, MMA training can be an incredibly rewarding and low-risk activity. You don’t have to get hit or take dangerous risks to reap the benefits of MMA—you can learn and practice the same skills as a fighter without the extreme contact.

MMA isn’t just for fighters—it’s for anyone. With the right coaching and emphasis on safety, kids, teens, and adults of all ages can learn MMA. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, develop self-defense skills, or just try something new, MMA offers something for everyone. It’s a great way to stay in shape, build discipline, and improve mental toughness. As long as the training environment is supportive and proper techniques are followed, MMA can be an incredibly fun and effective way to challenge yourself and achieve your personal fitness goals.
